Lithology and Thickness

The formation comprises fine to medium heterogeneous sandstones with cross-bedded stratification and beds and lenses of only kaolinitic clay, with regular beds of ferruginous siltstones of flaky appearance on outcrops. Thickness is 100 to 200 m.

Lower contact

Underlain by the Arentigué Fm

Upper contact

Overlain by the Emi-Bao Fm

Regional extent

The formation extends in the plain, to the west of the oasis of Kafra, and goes under the Bilma cliff.
